Introducing Michael J. Sadowsky, Ph.D., MS
TerraMax is pleased to announce that Dr. Michael Sadowsky has joined its 2019 Board of Directors. Dr. Sadowsky is currently the Director of the BioTechnology Institute. He is also a Distinguished McKnight Professor in the Department of Soil, Water and Climate at the University of Minnesota.
Prior to his work at the University of Minnesota in 1989, Dr. Sadowsky worked as a microbiologist in the private and public sectors. Before he was the head of the BioTechnology Institute, he was Co-Director of the Microbial and Plant Genomics Institute. This was also at the University of Minnesota. In 2004, Dr. Sadowsky was named a Distinguished McKnight University Professor in 2004.
Dr. Sadowsky’s current research includes understanding the molecular plant-microbe interactions and survivability of rhizobia. Secondly, he is studying using DNA technology to trace fecal pollutants in the environment. Another specialty of his is the biochemistry, genetics, and genomics of micro-organizations degrading pesticides. He is a renowned speaker, author of more than 350 articles, and is currently Editor-in-Chief for Microbiology Spectrum ASM’s newest journal. Dr. Sadowsky holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Hawaii, as well as an MS in Microbiology from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He completed his Bachelor of Science with a major in bacteriology, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
